Remembering a “Hawkview” Staff Member

May 21 marked the 15-year anniversary of the passing of Conrad De La Rosa-Anderson ‘03. Conrad was a fellow Blackhawk, he attended La Quinta High School, and was very active in Tough Guys and Gals, as well as the Hawkview school newspaper, where he served as the advertisement editor.

He was also very interested in the music scene and played both guitar and clarinet. He began studying music at College of the Desert when his time was cut short by a motor vehicle collision.

However, this article will not be a bereavement of his passing. Rather, in a perpetuation of the wishes of his family and in keeping with his positivity and caring, the Hawkview would like to take this moment to celebrate Conrad’s life.

One way that his family has found to honor his memory is to host a scholarship in his name. The Conrad De La Rosa-Anderson memorial scholarship awards money to COD-bound students who have excelled in either journalism, music or both disciplines. To decide a winner, the family reviews senior portfolios to find qualifying students. Through this scholarship, Conrad continues to be remembered and honored through new generations of Blackhawk students.

Here, more information about Conrad’s life is stored, as well as details about the scholarship, which was awarded on May 21. Congratulations to this year’s recipient, Robert Moreno ’18.
