Old Town Welcomes Holiday Season with Tree Lighting Ceremony

Hosted in Old Town La Quinta at the Civic Center Campus, many residents welcomed the holiday season with the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 1.

Linda Evans, mayor of La Quinta, kicked off the celebration by counting down the lighting of the tree. Kids and parents made their way over to the tree where Santa Claus waited to take photos as well as listen to kids’ wishlists for this year.

Attendees began to focus their attention to the main stage where students from local elementary schools showed off their dancing and singing skills. The celebration was closed out by LQHS’ very own choir.

“It was really cool to see all the people who came to show support,” said Brandy Diaz ‘18, who is a member of the LQHS choir.
