Lou Benedetto, 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year

“Having been voted Teacher of the Year by my colleagues is an honor. Anyone who knows me may recall that teaching is a second career for me. My previous career was that of a pastry chef/baker and bakery manager. I really ‘liked’ that career but it didn’t fulfill me. Changing careers and moving to California in my late ‘30s-early ‘40s was a big risk, especially because I hadn’t taught before. Being voted “Teacher of the Year” validates that I did indeed make the right move. I LOVE what I do now. I have fun everyday with the students and work with great teachers. On a less sappy note, I would like to thank my pal Vladimir P. for helping me secure enough votes for this honor.”
