School News: On Nov. 8, LQHS’ culinary students hosted a luncheon for veterans and first-responders. Clarissa Castro ‘19 organized Dancing in the Light with the Angels, as a response to the Las Vegas mass shooting. Ciro Camerena ‘19 competed in the first annual Goldfish Bowl, where he pitched an invention, earning the support of many sharks.

Local News: La Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor announced its newest location in the Coachella Valley. This would mark the eighth location since they opened their first shop in January 2015. Their signature snacks range from handcrafted ice cream to chile and lemon covered treats. After one visit, customers return for more very soon.

National News: A day after the church shooting, the Air Force admitted that it had failed to enter the gunman’s domestic violence court-martial into a federal database that could have blocked him from buying the rifle he used to kill 26 people. Two months after Hurricane Harvey struck Texas and devastated swaths of Houston, the Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, in Game 7 of the World Series.

International News: Iranians dug through rubble in a frantic search for survivors on Nov. 13, after a powerful earthquake struck near the Iraqi border, killing more than 450 people and injuring thousands of others. Syria announced during United Nations climate talks on Nov. 7 that it would sign the Paris agreement on climate change. The move, which comes on the heels of Nicaragua signing the accord last month, will leave the United States as the only country that has rejected the global pact.
