LQHS families gathered in the auxiliary gym at 6pm on September 3rd, 2019 for the first ever Kickoff Pasta Night. The ticket to enter was $10 per person, and each plate included salad, pasta, bread, desert, and a drink. All the proceeds were raised to benefit the cheer and football team, and the event was a huge hit! The seats were packed, and families and friends were conversing and having a great time.
The event was so successful that they ran out of food and earned $3000. La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans came out to speak at the event and stated that the city of La Quinta will “do anything we can do to support team Blackhawks.” Shortly after, Football Coach Patrick Rivenes commented “It’s a family meal type of setting, and we try to promote family and brotherhood.” There was a great sense of community, everyone was laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Head cheerleader, Lexi Thompson (‘20), shared what she liked most about the fundraiser, “I like that the event is very organized and it’s for a good cause. I also like the food and being able to spend some time with the girls on my team.”
None of this would have been possible without Kaiser Restaurant Group; they provided this event with wonderful food. Sue Morcus, who owns the Kaiser Restaurant Group along with her husband Lee Morcus and planned the whole event stated she would love to provide this fundraiser next year and maybe more years to come.
If you missed this year’s pasta night, don’t worry, an upcoming pasta night is in the works! This was a great event to kick off the season and bring everyone together.
