Ace High Goes All In
David Viefhaus ‘18 is the creative mind behind Ace High, a new clothing brand that has been making its way around La Quinta High. In poker terms, ace-high is a hand with the highest ranking card — part of the reason Viefhaus chose that name for his brand.
The idea to create his own t-shirts came to him after he bought some sketchbooks. He said, “I bought two sketchbooks and started drawing little designs and pretty much decided I’d give it a shot.”
The inspiration for these t-shirts came heavily from the Grateful Dead. “Music was a pretty big inspiration behind this particular collection,” Viefhaus added.
As for the future, Viefhaus plans to unveil a full collection with a wide range of new products such as jewelry, pants, and jackets. As far as the big picture, he added, “Of course I would like to get to the point of having my own store or get Ace High in a retailer.”
Austin Romero is a reporter for the La Quinta High School student-run newspaper, the Hawkview. He intends to contribute a new and creative perspective on stories about art and music. Romero enjoys writing and loves to express himself through his work.
